Roadside Cleanup Completed

Roadside Cleanup Completed

On Saturday May 4th a small army of very committed volunteers walked the roadsides around our Kennisis Lakes gathering trash that had been carelessly tossed aside by ignorant and inconsiderate sloths. There is absolutely no excuse for littering public property. We are though blessed to have good people willing to help clean up the mess created by others and restore the natural beauty all around us.

Our warmest thanks go the Brenda Smith, Julie Bramm and Natalie Wood for taking the lead in coordinating and organizing this event and to every volunteer who pitched in to collect trash that should not have been there. As a result of their efforts we have decided to cancel the second date organized for May 11th. Everyone though is encouraged to continue to clean up whatever you see during your regular walks.

The volume of trash around our lakes was truly unbelievable.
Even in the face of so much trash some still managed to smile.
One upside is that some local charities will benefit from the very large collection of beer cans and bottles.
Some think trash just goes away. One set of keen eyes found a bag, which included these steel pop cans, which will have been there for over 25 years! All trash has a place – let’s educate everyone to put it where it belongs.
