Cottage Succession Planning

Cottage Succession Planning

On Saturday, July 27th FOCA (Federation of Ontario Cottagers Associations), in conjunction with KLCOA, hosted a seminar on Cottage Succession Planning.

The seminar was very well attended and we received many very positive comments about the content.

Peter Lillico, an estate planning lawyer, and a frequent speaker on cottage succession planning delivered the presentation. According to Peter, “It’s not lack of interest, capital gains tax or other financial pressures that result in most family cottages going up for sale. It’s a consequence of friction within the family that arises from sharing ownership and usage.
