| Plans are already underway for this year's regatta. Those who were fortunate enough to see our regatta featured on Cottage Life television last year know just how great a job our volunteers do. Speaking of volunteers, if we don't have any, we simply won't have a regatta. Last year only 8 people signed up at the May meeting! It would appear to this editor that the same people come out year after year to do the work and I think it's about time that fresh blood joined the team. Keith Rodd will have more information at our General Meeting on May17. There will be an organization meeting held on Saturday morning, July 5…details to follow. The regatta will be held on Saturday August 2 at the marina with Sunday August 3 being the rain date. The emphasis on the day is to have family fun! Don't miss this great event.

Our annual Rock Bass Tournament will be held on Saturday July 5. This is always a fun event and it has grown in popularity each year. No license is required and the whole family can participate. Keith Rodd will be posting additional information on our display board at the Marina Store and, no doubt will have more information for you at our meeting on May 17. |
Our sailing regatta will be held on Sunday August 3. For many years Pete Sulman has organized this event. This year, Barry Wilhelm has taken over the project and it is hoped that he'll get lots of support from the Kennisis Community. Attendance has become somewhat sporadic and, if we are to keep this event alive, it's important to set the date aside and participate. Once again, more information will be shared at our meeting and it will also be posted at the Marina Store.

At the time of this writing, Dysart's budget for 2003 has not been realized. However, it appears that the following projects will be addressed:
§ South Kennisis Drive from County Road 7 for ˝ km just past the marina will be resurfaced.
§ South Kennisis Drive from approximately #150, where the recent resurfacing stopped, through to approximately #198 will be resurfaced.
§ Brushing will be conducted for a one-week period concentrating on the most needed stretches around the lake.
Other general maintenance operations will be performed as time and money permits.
An update will be provided at the General Meeting in May.
Editor's Note: Looking for a thrilling ride? Forget Canada's Wonderland! Just take South Kennisis Drive at over 20 kph and you'll have the ride of your life....cheap (except for the cost of new shocks, etc.) |
